Q&A with Ballycrochan Baptist

The pastor of Ballycrochan Baptist Church, Neil Watson, shares why their church signed up and why they encourage others to do the same.

When did you become a Supporter Church?

Ballycrochan Baptist Church became a supporter church just a few months ago after being made aware of the scheme online.

What was your motivation to become one?

Bangor Worldwide has been an important fixture for us in our church calendar for almost 40 years. We have greatly enjoyed and appreciated the Convention speakers, missionaries and events. When the opportunity arose to become a Supporter Church we grabbed it with both hands.

How do you incorporate mission support in your congregation?

Our first priority as a member of the Association of Baptist Churches In Ireland (ABCI) is to support the work of ‘Baptist Missions’ in Ireland, France, Spain and Peru. Our motto is ‘Proclaiming Christ and Planting Churches’ and it is our great privilege to support such an effective mission. Our church also supports a number of other missionary societies in prayer and financial support.

What practical ways do you share specifically about Bangor Worldwide in your congregation?

We receive regular updates from Bangor Worldwide which we share with our congregation via email and powerpoint at our church services. We also highlight events and needs at our corporate prayer times. We enjoy having a speaker from the Convention at our Sunday morning service at the beginning of Worldwide each August.

What would you say to a church who is thinking about becoming a Supporter Church?

My advice is “Go for it!” We have a saying in our church circles, ‘We can do more together than we can do on our own’. Mission is very much a team effort and the more churches that support the work of Bangor Worldwide the better.
