Herbert Mateer and his friends laid solid foundation stones in prayer back in September 1938 by establishing a regular Worldwide prayer meeting.
This is still a fixture today, many decades later, with a group meeting every Monday morning in Bangor Bangor Congregational Church on Central Avenue at 11am.
However, the hard reality is that mission agencies are struggling to maintain networks of prayer support groups, so it is even more urgent for Christians to be involved in this today than it was back in 1938.
Prayer is an option for everyone as we continue to “face a task unfinished that drives us to our knees”, so it really is a core way for you to get involved.

We really need your support and invite you to prayerfully consider which of the following ways you can engage in prayer.
If you live locally and are free on a Monday morning, then why not join us at our prayer meeting in Bangor?
Alternatively, or additionally, you could sign up for our Monthly Prayer Update. This goes directly to your inbox, enabling you to pray intelligently and in detail about key issues & convention needs.
Building upon the above, how about starting an informal prayer group locally in your church or home, using the Monthly Prayer Update as the basis for your and others’ prayers? Please discuss this with someone from Worldwide.
The Worldwide team serves faithfully year-round with one aim in mind: to create a space where people of all ages can listen, learn, and respond to the call of the Lord Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations.
