The convention planned for August 2026 is the 90th in a continuous line which stretches back to 1937. A significant milestone has been reached and we are preparing an extended programme of events to celebrate God's goodness to a succession of organisers down the decades.
He has been faithful and this has encouraged those involved to keep going no matter what the prevailing circumstances might be. A world war, the Troubles, a pandemic did not interupt the sequence and so our theme for this special is particularly appropriate -Pressing On. May the convention this year be a similar encouragement all those who are able to get along.
There are significant changes to our venues this year and it is particularly important that these are checked carefully by those wishing to attend. Our main "home" for many years - Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church - is not available this year due to essential repair work being carried out over the summer months.
The convention will be "hosted" by a number of churches in Bangor including the Elim church, Hamilton Road Baptist, City Church, Kings Church, Lisnabreen Presbyterian, Bangor Parish.
Beyond Bangor, satellite events, at which convention speakers can be heard at one-off meetings are planned for venues across N. Ireland - Dollingstown, Magherafelt, North Coast, Belfast - as well as in the Republic of Ireland - Drogheda and Swords.
The intention behind organising these events is to enable those interested, who might not be able to get to Bangor, to attend at a more local location.
The main proramme begins on Saturday 15th August in Hamilton Road Baptist Church at 7.30 pm.
This evening is designed to introduce some of the speakers for the week and will include times of extended prayer. Unless we seek God's blessing together, we risk having a time of much activity but little worthwhile outcome. Chris Wright will bring a closing address. One special element of this event will be the Launch of an updated history of the Convention. This has been specially commissioned for our 90th Convention and copies will be available throughout the week.
Prior to the main meeting there will be a Reception for currrent and retired missionaries, as well as other Friends and supporters of the convention.
The Opening Evening meeting will take place in the Elim church on Sunday 16th and the main speaker will be Rev Conrad Mbewe.
Solid Bible teaching has been at the core of the convention since 1937. Our Bible teacher each morning will be Rev. Conrad Mbewe a well known theologian, church planter (among many other things !! ) who has been mightily used by God to extend His Kingdom in his native Zambia and beyond.
Conrad was with us a few years ago and was well received by all who had the opportunity to hear him.
In the evening meetings we have a range of speakers from around the world including North Korea, Zambia, Lapland, India, Finland, Nigeria.
In addition to the main meetings there are a range of more specialised events such as the meeting for Ladies on Thursday afternoon.
Our Children’s Holiday Bible Club, organized by CEF, has been very well received over the past number of years, and we are delighted to host it again in 2026, running parallel to the morning Bible studies.
There will also be dedicated meetings for teenagers and young adults, including a specific programme for those in their 20s and 30s.
This is just a summary of what is planned for Worldwide 2026. Additional events will be added, so we encourage you to check the website regularly for the latest updates.
We ask for your prayers—that the programme will go ahead smoothly and that there will be no last-minute difficulties.
If you would like to pray regularly for the Convention, you can join us in person at our Monday morning prayer meeting at the Congregational Church in Bangor. Alternatively, you can sign up below to receive our Monthly Update.
The Worldwide team serves faithfully year-round with one aim in mind: to create a space where people of all ages can listen, learn, and respond to the call of the Lord Jesus Christ to make disciples of all nations.
